All About us

But enough about you, what about us? Well, thanks for asking. Below you can read our company’s philosophy and our personal bios or, if you’re ready, drop us a line and start a conversation.

Our Philosophy

When it’s done right, eLearning is almost always the most efficient and cost-effective way to impart required knowledge to employees. Recently however, for most organizations, it has become the only way it can be done. But the traditional, longstanding pitfalls of eLearning still apply. Too many online learning programs tend to be either underfunded, with complex, unintuitive interfaces and lacklustre, boring content—rendering them unappealing to use, and therefore ineffective. Or they are overdone, with too much unnecessary design and programming—meaning most companies can’t afford to train their people with them—if they also want to continue to pay those people.

Enter KILO. We get it. We understand the too much-too little conundrum. And in order to solve it for a diverse, and growing, group of clients, we’ve become the Goldilocks of eLearning companies.

We get the content just right because we go out of our way to get to grips with a company’s specific and unique needs. (Hint: that involves more listening than talking.)

We get the interface and user experience just right because we have years of experience honing our skills exclusively in the eLearning field. (There’s a lot to be said for having one passion, with no distractions.)

With accomplished experts in graphic design, writing, advanced programming, instructional design and project management, we know just the right way to quickly produce engaging learning programs that look and feel as amazing as they work. (For eLearning it takes a village, too.)

KILO. Getting eLearning just right.

Chantal Labranche - Captain

Chantal is the one that helps you figure out what you need, and directs you on the right course. She helps you figure out where you need to go, and gets her shipmates to execute the plan. While she’s most comfortable at the helm with her project management skills, she does have a strong background in adult learning principles, eLearning development, needs analysis, technical writing, and instructional design.

Chantal has been part of many successful journeys – some of them with: MNP, IBM, District of Saanich, Cenovus, EnCana, TransCanada, MNP, CNRL, ATB, Suncor, Xerox, University of Calgary, and Mount Royal University.

Brian Close - Chief Engineer

Ever since a 14-year old Brian told his parents he wanted to take an evening calligraphy class, he has been on a journey of design. He has had stop-overs in various industries. Beginning by honing his skills in the printing industry, he’s created everything from the humble business card to majestic road-side billboards. In advertising, he joined teams selling items ranging from chicken wings to houses, to the Rocky Mountains themselves (the latter being more of a rental situation). In the corporate world he designed and produced interfaces for courses and communications, charts, diagrams, and volumes of documents which totally reached the stretch goals of leveraging synergy.

Brian has been to sea with these fine folks: Xerox, RBC, Delta Airlines, Suncor, Google Fiber, Moxies, and Banff Tourism.
